Also included, correspondence of his wife, Henriette de Saussure Blanding, papers of Gordon Blanding relating to W.T. Coleman estate, and records relating to the O.L. Shafter Estate Company. Also includes correspondence related to Goodrich's involvment with the Indian Defense Association of Central and Northern California and the California Roadside Council and a scrapbook of clippings of famous individuals potraits.

Oscar L. Shafter, an attorney from Vermont, came to California in 1854, having been offered a one-year position in a prestigious San Francisco law firm. At year's end he was engaged in a successful practice and believing the California climate to be better for his family's health, he sent for his wife and two daughters to join him.
